"Lakeshore Chamber Salutes: "Hearts of the Lakeshore" at the Valentine's Day Gala"

Over 525 members and guests of the Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce honored local business leaders and civil service honorees recently at the Horseshoe Casino's exciting Venue Theater. This annual chamber event honors not only local businesses and entrepreneurs, but also civil service leaders from Hammond and East Chicago.

The Lakeshore Chamber's Business Persons of the Year are Peter Nau, President and CEO of Hammond Machine Works and Michael "Mickey" Lopez, President of Actin, Inc., two gentlemen who represent the enrepreneurial spirit required to be successful in today's business world.

East Chicago Civil Service Awards were presented to: EMS Paramedic Ruben Murillo; Firefighter Thomas Boyle; Police Officer Alejandro Campos; and teacher David Lane, East Chicago Central High School

Hammond Civil Sevice Awards were presented to: EMT-1 Eric J. Wesley, Firefighter Angel Solis; Police Officer Sgt. Jeff Miller; and teacher Allen Bild, Hammond Area Career Center.

Chairman Jeff Williams and Special Events Chair Monica garcia presented Longevity Awards to local businesses celebrating their years in business: Insulation Fabricators, Inc. 30 Years; Northwest Industrial Specialists 30 Years; First Midwest Bank 70 Years; LaHayne Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Years; First Federal Savings and Loan of Hammond 76 Years; Krieg DeVault, LLP 83 Years; WJOB Radio 85 Years; American Savings, FSB 100 Years; Peoples Bank 100 Years; X-Tek Midwest Service Center 100 Years; Hammond Public Library 106 Years; Centier Bank 115 Years.

Congressman Pete Visclosky, Whiting Mayor Joe Stahura and Hammond Mayor Tom McDermott, Jr. were on hand as the chamber recognized Economic Development Award Winners:
